18 alternative data charts that move before AI earnings
Companies report quarterly. Trade and industry data comes out monthly, sometimes every ten days. Our alternative data page charts 18 series with full history, each with what it measures, how to read it and which stocks it moves.
1Korea semiconductor exports
The fastest public read on memory demand. Monthly records in 2026 have tracked HBM and DRAM pricing.
2TSMC monthly revenue
Published about ten days after month-end, weeks before NVIDIA reports.
3Taiwan export orders
Orders lead shipments by one to three months, a forward look at AI servers and chips.
4US imports from Taiwan
The most direct gauge of AI servers arriving in US data centers.
5US imports from Mexico
Server assembly has been moving to Mexico to sit closer to US customers.
6US imports from Vietnam and Malaysia
Electronics assembly and chip packaging and testing.
7US imports from Korea
Memory, batteries and a growing share of grid transformers.
8US data center construction spending
The best public measure of the physical build-out.
9US power construction spending
Power plants, transmission and substations: the grid data centers need.
10Power transformer prices
Producer prices still climbing means the shortage hasn't eased.
11Electrical equipment prices
A broader read on switchgear, motors and transformers.
12US electric power output
After 15 flat years, US electricity demand is rising again.
13US electricity prices
Rising bills are becoming a political issue for new data centers.
14US semiconductor production
Real output from US chip plants, which new fabs should push higher.
15Copper, uranium and natural gas
The raw materials and fuel behind grids, nuclear restarts and gas-fired power.
16Filter by stock or theme
Pick a stock, say SK hynix or GE Vernova, and the page shows only the charts that move it.
17Follow the shipment
Routes such as Korean HBM to TSMC's packaging plants in Taiwan show where hardware physically goes.
18A release calendar
When the next reading of each series is due.
How to use the charts
Pick a stock in the filter at the top of the page to see only the charts that move it. Look at the latest reading and the change from a year ago, then at the shape of the chart: steady growth, acceleration or a flattening. A turning point in a monthly series is usually visible well before it shows up in quarterly results.
Why monthly data beats quarterly results
By the time a company reports, the quarter has been over for weeks and the stock has often moved. Monthly trade, sales and price data is published sooner, so it gives a head start on whether demand is speeding up or slowing down.
Each chart updates automatically as new data is published.
Frequently asked questions
What is alternative data in investing?
Data outside company filings that hints at results before they are reported, such as trade statistics, monthly sales, prices and construction spending.
Why do Korean exports matter for AI stocks?
Korea makes most of the world's memory, and AI accelerators need large amounts of it, so Korean chip exports track AI memory demand closely.
Is the data free?
Yes. Sources include Korea's trade ministry, TSMC, Taiwan's economy ministry, the US Census Bureau, BLS, the Federal Reserve, IMF and EIA.
