How we score a bottleneck.
A shortage matters when AI demand can't route around it. We score each bottleneck on five physical dimensions, combine them with judgement into a 0–100 tightness score, and write down what would prove us wrong.
The five dimensions (1–5 each)
- Supply concentration — how few suppliers control output (5 = one or two firms).
- Lead time — how long new capacity takes to arrive (5 = multi-year).
- Capex intensity — how expensive capacity is to add (5 = multi-billion per increment).
- Geopolitical exposure — concentration in one country or export-control risk.
- Pricing power — evidence that suppliers set price or allocate rather than compete.
Tightness score (0–100)
Our judgement of how short supply is today, informed by the dimensions plus current evidence: lead-time commentary, allocation language, pricing and capacity announcements. Arrows (tightening / stable / easing) show the direction of travel. For the Hot AI Themes sector, the score measures how strongly AI demand is pulling on that industry.
Sector and bottleneck indexes
Equal-weight across the stocks we cover, rebalanced daily, local-currency price returns, rebased to 100 one year ago. "% in uptrend" is the share of stocks above their 50-day average. Prices are delayed end-of-day data from public sources.
AI Infrastructure Daily
Every two hours a job collects headlines from industry publishers (DatacenterDynamics, Data Center Knowledge, Utility Dive, EE Times, Light Reading, Semiconductor Today, World Nuclear News, The Robot Report, SecurityWeek and others) and Yahoo Finance ticker feeds, sorts them into eight segments by keyword, and pairs them with each segment's stock moves and upcoming events. The final edition is saved after the US close and archived. We show headlines and links only; the reporting belongs to the publishers.
Stock pages
Charts are annotated with dated management commentary and data releases we curate from earnings calls and official releases (each with a source link), plus every earnings report with its EPS surprise. Text in "double quotes" is verbatim as reported; the rest is our paraphrase. The status label is curated for key stocks; for the rest it is automatic, from the trend of the stock's bottlenecks and its price versus the 50-day average. Market cap, valuation and analyst targets refresh daily from public market data.
Alternative data and predictions
Latest readings for Korea and Taiwan trade data, monthly sales and price surveys are taken from the linked official releases and dated. Forecasts on the Predictions page are summarised from public sources; the "on track / raised / at risk" status is our editorial read of the latest data.
What this is not
Not investment advice, not a rating, not a recommendation. Roles describe a company's position in a physical supply chain, not a view on its shares.
